My next car is going to be the Diesel truck – GMC or Chevy doesn’t matter but DIESEL will be part of the equation.
I will try to source every “fact” or “fiction” I can find below at the bottom of the page.
- Engine: Duramax XLD28 aka Mini Duramax
- 2.8-liter turbodiesel I-4 creates 181 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque @2,000 rpm and will have best-in-class fuel economy. (motortrend #1)
- Same engine used in Brazil & Thailand with modifications for colder climate areas. (#1)
- Transmission: Rumored 6-speed automatic
- Verified in Chevrolet Colorado & GMC Canyon (#2)
- MPG: Rumored numbers, low-mid 30’s highway, and upper 20’s city, combined 30, but GM is claiming best in class which could be 1-2 over current MPG figures… but who really knows.
- Tow: Rumored @ 7k lbs
- Available: Dec 2015 (BUMMER!!!!)
- Trim: The diesels will arrive as crew cab mid-trim level trucks with the short bed by the end of this year. (#1)
- I hope short bed is not true…
- Pricing: Expect to add 4k to whatever version you buy now
- Example: Colorado Crew Cab base = 29k + 4k = 33k
- Features Added (#3): (not tracking every features variances between GMC/Chevy)
- (LWN) 2.8L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine (Late availability); includes
- (K40) Exhaust brake,
- (JL1) Integrated trailer brake controller and
- (NQ6) 2-speed, electric transfer case
- (UDD) Display, driver instrument information enhanced, multi-color
- (A28) rear-sliding window is now standard on SLT and included in (PCN) SLE Convenience Package
